Morning Commute

As the sun rises above the jagged peaks of the island chain, life below stirs in response to the rays of light that filter through the canopy. The inhabitants of the wetland interior begin to make the daily migration into the lowlands to feed in the waterways below during the daylight hours.

Animals Pictured:

- Antlered Needletooth: Boreopterid pterosaur, a piscivorous freshwater hunter, common within Morerea's interior swampland; it has evident sexual dimorphism, with males possessing a large L-shaped crest, while females have only a modest flap.

- River Scourge: Arguloid crustacean, carnivorous arthropods related to fish lice; primarily scavengers, they infest the more stagnant regions of the islands' streams and ponds, but the smell of meat is usually more than enough to prompt them from the water, often in large numbers.

- Maw Bird: Enantiornithine bird, predatory animals with large broad heads filled with teeth rather than having a beak as is characteristic of axehead birds; they are easily distinguished by their colourful pudgy frame, which makes them poor fliers.

- Ugly Duck (in the distance): Anatid bird, the most prevalent species of waterfowl on the archipelago, aside from their physical appearance with their fleshy feather-less heads and inky brown plumage, they are not much different than other duck species.

- Dragonfly: it's a dragonfly.
